Aminda Tudawe

Chairman

Aminda Tudawe is a Director of Durdans Hospital and Durdans Heart Centre (Pvt.) Ltd. With a functional role as Head of Supply Chain and Procurement in a strategic and coordinating capacity, Mr. Tudawe has been involved in the development of the Durdans Vision 2022 project and project consortium. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Business Management from the University of Wales (UK) and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the School of Business from the University of Leicester (UK).

Rakshitha Tudawe

Managing Director

Rakshitha Tudawe is an executive Director of Durdans Heart Centre (Pvt) Ltd and Durdans Medical & Surgical Hospital (Pvt) Ltd, and Managing Director of Amrak Institute. He has over 7 years of experience in the healthcare industry, and has successfully managed six key business units and driven revenue for the company. He also initiated the brand repositioning of Durdans Hospital in 2017. Rakshitha holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Business Economics from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, a Master’s degree in Management from Loughborough Business School, and has attended executive programmes at INSEAD, France.

Ranga Wimalasuriya

Executive Director

Ranga Wimalasuriya holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Lawrence University, USA and Executive Education from the University of Chicago. His interests in Venture Capital and Education Technology span over ten years. He has worked for TATA Group in New York & Mumbai heading Enterprise Technology Teams in North America and also worked at MAS Holdings in Sri Lanka in the Innovation arm. His passion for Education and Innovation is what prompted him to be part of AMRAK.

Prof. Madawa Chandratilake

Consultant QA & Education

Madawa Chandratilake is the Chair and Professor of Medical Education, at Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. He has been involved in course development and evaluation in the field of health professions education in Sri Lanka and overseas for many years. Staff development is one of his key areas. He has engaged in training trainers, who have been involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education. He is vastly experienced in quality assurance and accreditation of programmes both nationally and internationally. He provides his expertise to maintain the highest quality and international standards in academic programmes offered by AMRAK, and to improve the scholarship of its academic staff.

Jayani Mendis

General Manager

Jayani holds her MSc. in Business Administration from the University of West of Scotland, UK. She is also an Alumni of Sri Lanka Institute in Marketing. She has been working in theHigher Education sector for last 23 years across Academic Administration, Education Marketing, Admissions, and overseas education partnership developments

Dr. Kalum Kathriarachchi

Head of Academics

Dr. Kalum Kathriarachchi has over 15 years of experience in academia, with significant contributions to NTU in Singapore and Kyoto University in Japan. He also worked as a Senior Research Scientist at AMRI Global in Singapore. He earned his Ph.D./ M.Sc. from Tohoku University in Japan and his B.Sc. from the University of Ruhuna. His research encompasses the fields of Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, and Drug Development.

Lorna Hettiaratchi

Amrak Institute of Medical Sciences

RN (Philippines) Nursing (BSc) Mrs. Lorna Hettiaratchy is a program leader for Birmingham City University and Senior Nursing lecturer attached to the Department of Nursing, AMRAK Institute of Medical Sciences. She has completed her BSc (Hons) in Nursing. She is a registered nurse in the Philippines. She brings with her, a wealth of 11 1/2 years as a Nursing officer in Durdans Nurses Training School and 1 year and 2 months experience as a Nurse at Ninewells hospital, Nurses Training School in Sri Lanka. She has worked as a Lecturer and Clinical Instructor – St. Jude College of Nursing in Manila Philippines 5 years. Moreover, she has experience as a Staff Nurse at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for 3 years.

Shehan De Silva

Academic Registrar and Lecturer

BSc (Hons) Pharmacology. Graduated from the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayawardenapura with a Special Degree in Human Biology. Shehan majored in Pharmacology. He has close to two decades of professional experience working in highly reputed organisations, including two years at Dipped Products Limited as a Senior Executive and eight years as an Assistant Team Lead.

Wijini Amanda

Amrak Institute of Medical Sciences

Ms Wijini Wijayabandara is a lecturer attached to the Department of Biomedical Science, AMRAK Institute of Medical Sciences. She obtained her BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science from Northumbria University-UK (First class) , an MSc in molecular Life Science specialized in molecular medicine from Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IBMBB)-University of Colombo, SriLanka. During her time as a postgraduate, she worked as a volunteer student demonstrator for plant DNA extraction at IBMBB. She also followed a laboratory training course on Molecular Biology Techniques conducted by the Ceygen Biotech and Durdans Molecular Diagnostic Laboratories.

Sisira Kumara

Amrak Institute of Medical Sciences

Sisira Kumara graduated with a Biotech Specialization from the University of Wayamba, Sri Lanka. Sisira joined Amrak, having experience of more than 10 years in teaching science. Additionally, Sisira serves as an editor and science communicator for a prestigious local science publication. He is the president of the Sri Lanka Association of Science Communicators at the moment and has a wealth of expertise in both national and international science communication.

Ruvini Madushika

Amrak Institute of Medical Sciences

Lecturer RN, Nursing BSc (Hons) Ms Ruvini Senarathne is a lecturer, attached to the Department of Nursing, AMRAK Institute of Medical Sciences. She is a registered nurse of the Sri Lanka Nursing Council. She obtained her BSc (Hons) in Nursing from the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenapura, Sri Lanka. During her time as an undergraduate, she specialized in Psychiatric nursing. Prior to joining AMRAK Institute of Medical Sciences, she worked as a Nursing Demonstrator at the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. Moreover, she has experience as a nursing officer in a leading semi-governmental hospital in Sri Lanka.

Dinushika Anuradhi

Amrak Institute of Medical Sciences

Ms Dinushika Anuradhi is a lecturer, attached to the School of Nursing, AMRAK Institute of Medical Sciences. She has obtained her BSc (Hons) in Nursing from the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenapura, Sri Lanka, and registered nurse of the Sri Lanka Nursing Council. During her time as an undergraduate, she specialized in Midwifery nursing. She brings with her, a wealth of experience as a nursing officer in a leading private hospital in Sri Lanka. Presently, she is reading for her Master’s in Nursing education.

Prof. Janaka De Silva

Honorary Lecturer: Amrak Institute of Medical Sciences

Professor Janaka de Silva is a physician and academic who has made significant contributions to the field of gastroenterology in Sri Lanka. He is the Senior Professor and Chair of Medicine at University of Kelaniya, Consultant Physician at Colombo North Teaching Hospital, and former Director of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM). He also served as Chairman of the National Research Council of Sri Lanka. Professor de Silva is a highly respected figure in the medical community and has received numerous awards and accolades for his work.

Dr. Ashan Abeywardene

Honorary Lecturer: Amrak Institute of Medical Sciences

Dr. Ashan Abeywardene is a graduate from Colombo Medical Faculty, he obtained the Membership of Royal College of Surgeons and GMC registration in 2012, and MD in Orthopaedics in the year 2013. In 2014 he went on to specialise in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgical techniques and joint replacements. With a strong focus on evidence-based practice, his primary objective is to deliver state-of-the-art minimally invasive care for the benefit of all of his patients, using modern arthroscopic surgical techniques and stem cell therapy.

Dr. Pandula Athauda-Arachchi

MBBS-Hons(SL) MRCP(UK) PhD(Cantab) CCT(UK) FESC FRCP(Glas) FRCP(Edin) FACC

Dr Pandula currently holds the position of Head of Cardiovascular Medicine & Surgery at Durdans Hospital while also lecturing at the Kothalwa Defense University medical faculty as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist & Senior Lecturer. He has numerous qualifications including a Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology(Swansea)& Gates-Cambridge Scholar(UK).
